Canada yew is a beautiful evergreen shrub that grows well in deep shade. It prefers rich, moist loamy soil, but can grow on sandy or rocky soil if the site is cool and moist. Its long, arching branches are especially attractive on shady slopes. It is a favorite food of deer, and it may be difficult to establish yew where deer populations are high.
